Fourstar was created in 1998 by Tyler Barton (drums) and Lee McMullen (vocals and guitar). Drew Thornhill (guitar) and Thomas Czar (bass) joined a year later and the quartet began writing, rehearsing, gigging, and eventually recording. The band recorded their first demo in a home studio in Albuquerque in July of 2000. The album was called “…proof that we existed” and was produced, financed, and sold by the members of the band. One hundred CD’s were printed, and they sold out in a week.
Fourstar draws inspiration from bands like Lagwagon, The Get Up Kids, Hot Water Music, and Weezer. The members of Fourstar affectionately refer to their brand of music as Groove Emo, but basically it's just drum-based nerd rock.
The four members of the band currently attend Eldorado High School in Albuquerque. Tyler is the brains of the band, Drew is the talent, Thomas is the heart, and Lee is whatever is left over. Maybe someday, they’ll move out, go to college, and do something with themselves, but for the time being they’re content with sleeping in, not doing homework, and not getting girls. Thomas enjoys listening to Devo, playing Dungeons and Dragons, petting his dog, and loving his mother. Tyler enjoys hating the world, hugging trees, not litering, and eating only organic foods. Drew enjoys making sex noises into the microphone, playing in the school band, and being smarter than Tyler, Lee , and Thomas combined. And Lee enjoys getting dissed by girls, getting made fun of by his friends,and getting called names by certain members of the football team. Lee would also like to note that he is currently single.
